Amazon and Walmart are Vying with Each Other for the on-Demand Grocery Shopper

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The smartphones and the other mobile devices are the waves of present and future. Since their explosion in popularity is climbing upwards, hence, day by day smartphones have become more feature-rich, chic and sophisticated. By contemplating the rising popularity of the smartphones and other mobile phones, companies are also planning and implementing various strategies, which can drag more customers towards their businesses and in this way, they can reach the zenith of the successes.

On-demand Model

On-demand grocery model is the latest amendment to this technological era. In this model, the customers will not only get the fresh and the best grocery products, but home delivery is also a part of this system. Because the stores have realised that if they are not able to provide this add-on facility to their customers, then a good percentage of customers will definitely migrate to the other food retailers who are offering this service to their customers.

Amazon’s AmazonFresh

The world’s largest online retailer Amazon has introduced the beta launch of AmazonFresh Pick up which is an on-demand grocery service. With this AmazonFresh Pickup, all the customers cannot only order groceries online, but they are also eligible for pick-up services that are designated at various AmazonFresh Pickup physical locations. So, with this app, customers will get their much-desired groceries at their home within 15-20 minutes.

Pickup as additional service

In order to give Amazon a good challenge, Walmart has become another illustrious company that has come up with a new idea that is Pickup and Fuel Concept stores. With this concept, the customers can purchase their groceries and other indispensable items from online but then they need to drive to the Walmart stores where their purchased items will be loaded into their cars by the Walmart employees. Both of these models have got a huge appreciation from their clients are contending with each other to establish their ubiquitous presence.

The grocery industry is also well-matched to this on-demand model. But there are also some drawbacks to this model. And the prime reason is the grocery delivery service is not as on-demand as it sounds. According to some people, they need to wait a prolonged time regarding the delivery of their purchased items. So, for them, it is easier to go to the retail shops and pick up the already purchased item instead of waiting throughout the day for the delivery. And thus, Walmart’s Pickup and Fuel service is doing pretty well in the market and giving a good threat to the Amazon’s existing model.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]AmazonVsWalmart[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Amazon’s Amazon Go

In order to conquer Walmart’s presence, Amazon had launched Amazon Go which is a self-service grocery store but the service will applicable only to the customers who has an Amazon account, a smartphone, and the Amazon Go app. The customers can purchase all their required and necessary items from the store and leave with no check-out required. Though Amazon made a delay in launching the Amazon Go but according to them, they will come up with some more fresh and innovative ideas so that they can give a tough competition to their rivals.

It is also true that Amazon is controlling the market with their online retailing, cars with on-demand devices and technologies like dash button and Alexa voice assistant. On the other hand, Walmart is also crammed with many advantages and advanced features like scale, a powerful physical ecosystem and many other things.

Walmart also has a propensity to do various kinds of experiments and hence, in 2015, they had launched Walmart Pay for the customers. Instead of using their cards and wallets, customers can use Walmart Pay for purchasing and check-out purposes.

It is true that in the future both Walmart and Amazon will combat with each other so that they can firmly establish their presence in the on-demand grocery industry. But who will be the sovereign that only time can say? But with their innovations, unique ideas and concept, both Walmart and Amazon are refurbishing and reshaping the grocery industry. This is quite beneficial for both the customers and companies as it will make their life more facile, simple and convenient.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
